United Methodist Women
The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in global ministries of the church.
The Women's Group of FUMC organized with ten members in the early 1930's under the name of Methodist Women's Missionary Society. The named later changed to United Methodist Women, and the year 2006 began with two hundred twelve members.
The United Methodist Women, as a whole, has four general meetings a year: February, May, September and November. The meetings are a means of bringing circle members together for special programs and Christian fellowship. Programs are planned to accomplish the UMW purpose. There are eight active circles and each choose their topic of study, and places a special emphasis on supporting mission outreach in the community, state, and beyond.
The Emblem of the United Methodist Women is the cross and the flame that symbolizes the Holy Spirit empowering us to witness and serve.
