Our youth groups challenge teens with the gospel, nurturing them in the faith, and encouraging them through Christian friendships with peers and adult counselors. We offer regular fellowship gatherings, Bible studies and special events like retreats and ski trips. Call the church at 448-7164 for more information.

Youth Programs Minimize

Our youth programs ministers to young people throughout the Grand Strand, leading them toward lives of discipleship under the Lord Jesus Christ.

We offer many opportunities for Christian growth, including weekly fellowship meetings, Bible studies, seasonal retreats, special events, small growth groups and mission projects. We even offer a parenting support group for parents who wish to enhance their Christian parenting skills. Our Junior High group is for those in the 6th through 8th Grades. Our Senior High program is for those in the 9th through 12th Grades.

We have many exciting things planned this season. No matter who you are, there is a place for you in the youth program of First United Methodist Church.

Happy Monday,

I hope everyone had a BEAUTIFUL weekend.  It is so nice to see the warmer temperatures and the sun shinning.  Please READ this email carefully.

Brandon’s Thoughts:

IT’S BACK!!!!!!!

This Sunday we are taking UMYF on the ROAD and bringing back one of the biggest hits from last year……“Destination Unknown.”  The purpose of these trips is to link locations from around our community with Scripture and faith issues.  Both groups will meet at 5:00pm at the North Campus and should return by 7:30pm.

In the past I have asked for parents to volunteer and help provide additional transportation but unfortunately I haven’t had a lot of success with that approach.  So when you drop your children off at youth please plan on staying and if your children are old enough to drive please leave your cell phones on so I can contact you if we need additional transportation.

We have been blessed with lots of youth and I want to make sure EVERYONE can make this trip.  Remember because of our Safe Sanctuary Policy youth are NOT allowed to drive on official youth outings.

Read 1 John 2:1-6 for a clue.

UMYF Schedule:

March 9:    Junior High – “Breakfast with Brandon” – 7:15am

March 10:  Senior High – “Breakfast with Brandon” – 7:30am

March 10:  “Called”- 6:30pm- Youth Center

March 14:  DESTINATION UNKNOWN - 5:00pm- Both Groups

March 19:  Sr. High Camping Trip-4:15pm- Youth Center

March 22:  Youth Fundraising Meal- Wesley Fellowship Hall

Fundraising Events:

Monday is the hardest day of the week and the youth want to make your Monday one to remember.  The youth will be providing a Fellowship Meal Monday, March 22nd in the Wesley Fellowship Hall from 5-7:30pm.  Please come out and enjoy Scott Bellamy’s World Famous Chicken Bog.  Proceeds will benefit the Youth Summer Mission Projects.

Sr. High Camping Trip:

Friday, March 19th- Students MUST sign up in advanced.

We will be camping at the Park Family River House and will need to leave Friday, March 19th by 4:15pm to set up camp.  Youth will NOT be able to drive and will have to ride the buses.  We will eat before we get to camp and will have snack food and breakfast on Saturday morning.

Students MUST have a signed waiver and permission form.

Taylor Time:

This has been VERY successful but I am still missing a few families.

My goal is to spend quality time with each of the youth and their families, because the church is just a building.  The spiritual formation and foundations need to start at home.  It’s very simple, just let me know when a good time is to visit and I will be there.   For example some families have invited me over for dinner, dessert or just to sit and chat.  Just shoot me an email and we can set up a time.

Senior Scholarship Applications:

Applications for the Senior Scholarship are now available.  You can access the application online at the church website.  www.fumcmb.org.  Remember you have to be a member of First Church and a senior in High School.  Applications are due March 28th.

Happy Monday,

I hope everyone had a BLESSED weekend.  I feel like I have NEW energy and I am so EXCITED about this Youth Ministry Program.

Brandon’s Thoughts:

This weekend I participated in the Men’s Walk to Emmaus and I must confess I wasn’t really looking forward to it but I am so glad I went.  For me my job is my life and my life’s mission.  I spend every waking minute trying to serve those around me.  My “kids” mean everything to me and from time to time it can wear a person down; spiritually, mentally and physically.

This weekend for me was a chance to recharge my battery and WAKE UP.  Joy comes in the morning and morning doesn’t necessarily have to have an A.M. next to it.  Morning happens when you WAKE UP.

JOY IS HERE WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!! J

Read Luke 22:27 and think about it
